Murmansk regional Museum of Local Lore
It was based on the 17th of October, 1926.The first exposition was devoted to the 10th Anniversary of the Soviet Power. The modern 4-storied building of the Museum — one of the most remarkable buildings of the city. In the Honorable Visitors Book there are the names of the outstanding guests such as F. Castro, Y. Gagarin, R. Karmen, K. Simonov, well-known journalists, scientists, travelers.
Murmansk regional Scientific Library
This library was founded in 1938 when new territorial division was organized in Murmansk region. The total area of its present building, built in 1970 makes 6000 s.m. 500 persons can visit the library at the same time. There are 18 complex and branch departments. The universal fund consists of 2,5 million books. About 800 kinds of newspapers and magazines are being subscribed.
Murmansk regional Art Museum
The Museum building was built in October 1927 — the first stone 3-storied building in the city. It is situated in the center of Murmansk in the cozy public garden among the different kinds of northern trees and bushes. The works of Russian art from the funds of Museum of Local Lore are the bases of the exposition . They are the paintings, drawings, sculptures, works of the decorative-applied art received from the Ministry of Culture of the USSR, Art Fund of Russia, leading museums of our country as well as purchased in private collections and authors themselves. The total amount of the collection — above 3000 items.
Murmansk Puppet Theatre
The theatre was created in 1933 and is the oldest in the country.
Murmansk Drama Theatre
Murmansk regional Drama Theatre. It works since February, 1939.
